This amplifier is one of two European/Asian amplifiers built by Wilson Electronics. The other one was described in my previous blog post, the Wilson 811710. There are two major differences between the Wilson 811710 and Wilson 811901. The first is the fact that this one is dual band to help amplify signals that run on the 900MHz (GSM)/2100MHz (UMTS) frequencies while the Wilson 811710 is dual band for the 900MHz/1800MHz (DCS) frequencies. The other difference is that the Wilson 811710 is universal to attach to any phone (by using an internal antenna in an adhesive Velcro patch), similar to the Wilson 811210 SignalBoost direct connection amplifier (for North American phones), while this one requires a cell phone specific Wilson Cell Phone Antenna (not included, required) similar to the dual band North American Wilson 811201. This package includes a DC power supply (Wilson 859904) and a 6′ cable. Required for it to work, is an external antenna (recommended are the 12.25″ magnet mount Wilson 301103 or the 4.25″ mini magnet mount Wilson 301113. For in building use, you can also purchase the optional AC Power Supply, which is an AC-DC converter. If you live in or travel to Europe or Asia and own a phone which uses the UMTS 2100MHz frequency, and in need of a cell phone booster, then this one is the best choice for you. While if you live or travel there and have a GSM phone that runs on the 900MHz frequency, then you can choose between the Wilson 811710 and Wilson 811901. Given that this one plugs directly in to the cell phone, the signal would be boosted greater with this product. But if you need a booster for the European/Asian 900MHz GSM frequency for any phone, then it would make sense to purchase the Wilson 811710 as it is universal (while being fairly powerful).
