If you read the first paragraph on my blog discussing the Wilson 301101, you can learn more about the uses of an antenna. This antenna I will be discussing will be the third RV/truck antenna with the first two being the Wilson 301112 and the Wilson 301101. The Wilson 301112 is a NMO (non magnetic option) mount while the Wilson 301101 is a mirror mount. This antenna is more similar to the Wilson 301112 in the sense that it requires drilling a hole on the top of the roof of your vehicle. I will admit that installation of this product is very complex and could require the help of a professional but once installed, it has proven to be very powerful and the results are amazing as it is a big 18″ tall antenna. I have a friend who owns a boat and purchased one of these. He is a very hands on, do it yourself, type of person and decided to install it himself. He told me that it took him a long time and he had wished that he did hire a professional but found all the work he put into it, to be well worth it. The main reason he purchased this one over the other two because of the fact that this one has a built in spring reduce damage to the antenna and with his purpose being to use it at sea, he found this one to be the best option for him (there is another heavy duty RV/truck option as well as a marine option but that one does not include everything required to mount while this one does). This antenna has an FME female connector and included is a 13.5′ coaxial cable. He opted not to purchase an amplifier and just bought the phone-specific Wilson Cell Phone Antenna Adapter (not included) to plug his phone directly into the antenna.  He has found that this alone is enough to power his phone to the point where he is able to get a decent signal (which is great compared to the fact that he was getting no signal before installing it, and it is crucial to have your phone when you are at sea, for obvious reasons).
